My Brer Rabbit

Wednesday 4th Nov 2009 @ 12:26 pm

Hey people!

I’m back! For like the third day this month, go me! *Waves at Adele faithful commentor XD*

Bronwen

I am making this. It’s Bronwen by Dawn Toussaint (Isn’t that an awesome name?). Only thing is I’m stuck. From the instructions I can not for the life of me figure out where to put her arms. I put them on and they just did not look right. I’ve also used cotton so my doll will be a lot stiffer once finished.

I will persevere and maybe update later!

Internet is being awful. For the past few weeks it’s been on and off like fairy lights so will attempt a more in depth post when it’s better.

Finishing friday: A purse and more

Friday 11th Jul 2008 @ 9:54 am

TGIF! The week seems to have gone so slowly. I did finish a few things so will share them with you.

First up a purse. To match the Sophia Carry All I intend to make. I didn’t use a pattern, I just winged it. I think it came out pretty good but could have been better. Anyone know a good purse/wallet tutorial?

Next time I’d add more card slots and a different closure. Maybe a zip pocket on the outside…

I also finished an apron. Everyone’s been admiring it and want their own. I feel some Christmas crafting coming on. Not the greatest photo but I was too impatient to wait till later and have a photo with it on.

I used this pattern but adapted it slightly. I’d like to try a frilly apron if I can find the right pattern. Right desperate housewife I am! How I’d love to live on Wisteria Lane. It’s had a lot of use already even in it’s half finished state.

Yesterday I was feeling gloomy so… I made cupcakes! I just made these up so I might have to go back and write down the recipe for monday. The frosting is vanilla cream and the cake is strawberry.

Yummy!

Today I am going shopping with mama. Need some fusible fleece for my bag which I can’t find anywhere and a zip as I got the wrong type.

My First Proper Sewing Project

Tuesday 17th Jun 2008 @ 11:21 pm

I love it already even with all it’s imperfections *grins*.

I followed the tutorial here at Multicrafty’s blog. If she hadn’t favourited one of my flickr photo’s I may never have gained inspiration!

I originally wanted to make the roll in my book “The Complete Guide to Knitting and Crochet” which is why I bought the Frisian print faux fur. The one I made though was far more functional. For some reason I can find every other pattern from that books picture besides that one but oh well lol.

Stitchings a little wonky and I remembered to put in the ribbon too late (hence it being a little high). I like the colours though.

That’s all I got for today. I also made cupcakes for my friend, I’ll share the recipes once I perfect it.

I’m back!

Tuesday 27th May 2008 @ 6:34 pm

You didn’t even notice I was gone did ya? Well I got back yesterday, got soaked in the rain and got totally lost lol. Those of you in the UK may have seen this on the news but a boy was stabbed in East Ham train station on Sunday night. I didn’t know this however and so when I was told the station was closed I proceeded to try and get a bus home. However, no buses were running through east ham at all! I couldn’t even walk directly because they’d got all the road blocked off. So I had to try and make my way down the back roads. I couldn’t get over the rail way tracks any where along that way so ended up in Barking, the next town over from where I live. Since I was there thought I might as well pick up a few bits, though I was soaked! Popped into tescos and got a few essentials. Walked off to et the bus and luckily didn’t have to wait too long, then as I got closer to home I saw my next bus behind me so I ran quick to get that. It never occurred to me to take a cab from Tesco’s but oh well. I got home safely is all that matters.

I do have somethingfor you though! Finally finished up writing out the Mary Jane patterns and it was such hard work I decided to put it up for sale here. You can purchase all three patterns for 3 pounds. That’s good value. For you US visitors paypal will automatically do a currency conversion at he right rate but it’s roughly $2 to £1.

White Mary Jane Frills

Enjoy!

I had a marvellous weekend. We ate drank and were merry! We also visited Canvey island and I got a wicked tan. I tan very easily and it was very hot that day. I wish I thought to take a picture of my tan lines but the tans faded now as I quickly kicked off my shoes and rolled up my sleeves to even it out some.

The tide was high but we still had a lovely time watching the waves, chatting and eating ice cream.

There’s Robert. As I was taking this photo my mom’s skirt blew up and she flashed the whole of Canvey Island LOL. Luckily, I was so surprised I accidentally cut her out. Luckily for her any way. We all would have had a good LOL at her bum, hehe!

See how far in the tide is? Some crazy people were swimming in it but it looked a bit murky to me!

It was glorious weather though. Real hot but with a wind to take off the edge. Isn’t it funny how people enjoy drawing willies on walls (not pictured, I’m not that crude). There were masses of them drawn all along the sea front it was amusing.

A nicer addition to this wall was this poem. One day I will go back with some coloured chalk and draw something pretty. Just for the heck of it.

I wasn’t completely idle. A couple more booties and a camera sock after I almost dropped my camera on the beach :s. On the plus side I figured out putting a taggy on wool is actually pretty easy. So I may add it to more of my stuff.

I’ve got a bit of a headache so I’m gonna stop writing and go relax. I’ll fill you in on some more stuff another time :).
