Winter Blues

Monday 16th Nov 2009 @ 11:47 pm

I’m sure it’s not just me who feels a bit blue this time of year. Just after my birthday but not quite christmas time. Generally I eek out birthday celebrations a few weeks till I am starting to prepare for christmas. This year however, I prepared early thinking I may not have time if the baby come early (we will be back and forth to Grays).

All is not lost though! At work we’ve recent had a new shipment of XDA’s which come in rather spiffy magnetic lid boxes. As soon as I saw these boxes I knew there was an oppurtunity for crafting. I’ve taken home 9 already and currently have 2 decorated sets of boxes looking lovely on our cabinet. They are not quite finished but I will show you my progress soon. I also think they would make awesome gift boxes.

Blues abated!

NB.I wrote this yesterday but forgot to publish oops!

More lovely gifts

Tuesday 10th Nov 2009 @ 8:14 pm

I had a super weekend at Sean’s mum and dads. We spent Saturday night at the Milanes (SIL) with fireworks, stew/caserole and a bonfire in celebration of Guy Fawkes night. I’m usually a bit of a wimp when it comes to fireworks but I managed to stay outside the whole time and even assist some! Go me hehe.

I got a lovely book of cupcake recipes from Saran and the Milanes, a Lush gift set from Gavin (BIL) and Jenn and an adorable wooden sewing box from Sean’s mum and dad. It really is very sweet. If it wasn’t for the fact I am waking up in half light and getting home in the dark I would take pictures.

Then we had Sunday lunch, minus Gavin and Jenn, at Seans parents. Three bird roast, yum!

Lucky us got a bonus gift from Seans mum and dad of Ikea vouchers. These were a belated moving in together gift. I suggested we save these till we move again.

Sean just made yummy onion Bhaji’s for my new low carb diet so I’m going to toodle off to eat.

You’re 27 now!

Saturday 7th Nov 2009 @ 1:43 pm

When I was 15 one of my friends wrote me a birthday card with “You’re 15 now!” in it and for some reason it stuck and ever since I get cards from my family with this phrase. Always makes me laugh.

I got lots of card, pressies and birthday drinks. I think my favourite birthday gifts was my favourite perfume Cinéma by YSL. I love that stuff. Secondly my pop out and make penguins from Sean (I’d been saying I wanted to start some christmasy crafting and they are perfect) and I also got Martha Stewarts encyclopedia of crafts which is really good. I had a quick flick through on my way home and I love the idea for christmas.

So all in all I have been very spoilt on my birthday and had a fab time. It’s not over yet though because I haven’t had my mom’s present or my sisters and we’re going to Seans family this weekend where apparently I have presents waiting. Lucky me.

I’m not very hungover despite being plied with birthday drinks all night. In fact I felt energetic enough to clean the kitchen this morning and do some washing. Has to be done right?

Seems I missed out on alot at work. One of our drivers got arrested, my manager Peter got engaged (again, lol don’t ask) and one of my work mates is leaving at the end of the month!

To round things off 27 things, in no particular order, that make me happy:

  1. I’m alive and well
  2. I have a decent job in these hard times
  3. My lovely boyfriend
  4. My just as lovely family &  friends
  5. Birthday presents
  6. Perfume
  7. Balloons
  8. Cupcakes
  9. Chocolate
  10. Chorizo (the three “C’s”
  11. Knitting

  13. My blog
  14. Music
  15. Apple Tango
  16. Christmas
  17. Buttons
  18. Ribbon
  19. Fresh Sheets
  20. Rainbows
  21. Warm baths
  22. Moo Cow Slipper Boots
  23. Winter boots
  24. My sewing machine
  25. Our bowls from Turkey
  26. Crafting
  27. Sunshine

It’s my birthday

Friday 6th Nov 2009 @ 12:10 am

…and I’m gonna party like it’s 1999.

I’m gonna go to bed just as soon as Sean is finished wrapping my presents lol, but thought I’d make a quick post.

Been shopping today. Bought a new dress, shoes and undies as you should have new everything on your bday. The shoes hurt my feet though so I dunno if I shall be wearing them. Damn new shoes!

I also got some lovely smelling sanctury stuff, so not only will I look pretty I will smell pretty too.

I baked my own cake. Cupcakes, because what are birthdays without cake? and I don’t like shop bought cake much. I just need to frost them which I’ll do tomorrow/today.

I’m really sleepy and I need to take these shoes off so I’ll leave you here. Will let you know how the celebrations unfold.

Starry xx

My Brer Rabbit

Wednesday 4th Nov 2009 @ 12:26 pm

Hey people!

I’m back! For like the third day this month, go me! *Waves at Adele faithful commentor XD*

Bronwen

I am making this. It’s Bronwen by Dawn Toussaint (Isn’t that an awesome name?). Only thing is I’m stuck. From the instructions I can not for the life of me figure out where to put her arms. I put them on and they just did not look right. I’ve also used cotton so my doll will be a lot stiffer once finished.

I will persevere and maybe update later!
